Latest Updates
Two major updates for this week:
(1) We are thrilled to announce the formation of a medical advisory board, led by Tim Lahey, M.D. and Erik K. Alexander. A bit about each of them is listed below:
Dr. Tim Lahey is an infectious disease physician and director of clinical ethics at the University of Vermont Medical Center. He is also professor of medicine at the Larner College of Medicine at UVM in Burlington, VT. He specializes in HIV and other infectious diseases, and clinical ethics. His research includes HIV care, tuberculosis epidemiology, medical education and clinical ethics.
Dr. Erik Alexander is the Associate Dean for Medical Education at Harvard Medical School, and Professor of Medicine. He is Chief of the Thyroid Section, and Executive Director of Education at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston MA. Beyond regularly seeing patients in his clinical practice, He has co-chaired several national guidelines on the care of patients with thyroid disorders and served on the Board of Directors of the American Thyroid Association.
When we launched this project, we knew that we would need experts to help us understand and speak about the complex science of COVID transmission. We so appreciate being able to work with such esteemed physicians as Dr. Lahey and Dr. Alexander to help stop the transmission of COVID in Vermont and beyond.
(2) Our new website is live! Please visit www.masks4missions.org to learn about what we do, who we are, and whom we’re partnering with. We’ve also included some COVID resources you might find useful and will be creating a store where you can purchase masks soon, so check back in a week or two to submit your order. All profits go to our nonprofit partners in support of their tireless work supporting Vermont communities.
